Q Fans of Team India must be worried… You’re on track with your prediction of a New Zealand-Australia World Cup final…
A (Laughs) But I could get it wrong with the other half of my prediction. The second semi-final remains to be played.
Q Would you term the first semi-final, between New Zealand and South Africa, a classic?
It was a good contest… South Africa were unlucky with the weather as rain came when (captain) AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis were in the middle of a dominating partnership… Generally, a rain interruption helps the team batting second… Having said that, South Africa had their chances… Missed run-outs, dropped a catch towards the close. In a semi-final, such misses cost dearly.
Q What did you make of New Zealand’s chase?
I told you on Monday itself that New Zealand were playing with unbelievable self-belief and that came to the fore in Auckland. Even the passionate crowd believed that New Zealand would win it. It was quite an atmosphere at Eden Park.
