Q The World Cup semi-finals’ line-up has gone according to script…
I had five vying for the four berths, with Sri Lanka being the fifth team… Well, the best have made it, so nobody can complain.
Who weren’t you sure about?
India, going by their listless performances in the tri-series which preceded the World Cup.
What’s your take on the first semi-final, between South Africa and New Zealand?
New Zealand are playing with unbelievable confidence, but South Africa must be believing that they can get to the final… New Zealand have a good all-round team and, at home, would be difficult to beat. Also, it won’t be an issue if (captain) Brendon McCullum won’t score. Right now, I’d go for New Zealand.
The second semi-final, featuring Australia and India…
Across formats, Australia have had the better of India in recent times, so they’ll take to the semi-final with confidence. Plus, they generally do well at the SCG. However, India have been playing very well in the World Cup.
Your prediction…
I’m a notoriously bad tipster, but it could be a New Zealand-Australia final.
