The term Bazball was coined in 2022 by Andrew Miller, editor of ESPN Cricinfo and it’s been said that it could not only be a winning strategy for sports teams but for businesses as well. There’s divided opinion on this so I’m taking a look at what Bazball is and the pros and cons of adopting this approach to leadership.
When I look back over my time as the head coach of the extremely successful Australian cricket team, I can identify numerous leadership challenges that had to be overcome. One in particular that stands out has to do with an inevitable tension that faces both the coach and individual leaders within the team.
Every leader I’ve ever met wants a team packed with talented players. That goes for business just as much as it does for elite sports teams. But in my experience talent on its own is never enough.
